Honey Talks Series: Dreaming of Marrakech with a Minty Marrakito Cocktail

Hey there, how are you holding up these days? Here in Amsterdam, we’re two months into our ‘intelligent lockdown.’ The world feels weird, lonely, and distant. Life has drastically flipped upside down, and like many of you, most of my work projects and travel plans have been put on hold, at least for the foreseeable future. Daydreaming about past adventures and exciting future explorations helps get me through these lonely, weird days.

The wanderlust struggle is real right now, and this week, I’ve got Marrakech on my mind and we recently launched our new web series Honey Talks on IG TV!

To celebrate (while social distancing), my travel buddy Cynthia and I hosted an episode together reminiscing of our very first House of Notoire trip to Marrakech.

While dreaming of sunshine, I crafted a special cocktail inspired by the sweet and savory flavors of the city. I paired juicy orange and spicy cinnamon with refreshing mint to create a unique twist on the mojito… we’re calling it the MINTY MARRAKITO. Scroll down for the recipe and let me know if you try it.

MAKE YOUR OWN MINTY MARRAKITO

Sweet, citrusy, and refreshing—this flavorful, sparkling cocktail brought back memories of our retreat in 2017. Stir, sip, and enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

  • 6-8 sprigs of fresh mint

  • 1/2 fresh lime (juiced)

  • 1/2 fresh lemon (juiced)

  • 1/2 fresh orange (juiced)

  • Honey (to taste)

  • Ground cinnamon (optional)

  • 5 shots spiced rum

  • 3 shots grapefruit sparkling water

  • Ice (crushed)

STEP BY STEP

  • Combine citrus juice and honey into a pitcher and stir until combined 

  • Clap the mint in your hand to release the essence, and muddle or stir in vigorously in the pitcher

  • Add the spiced rum and sparkling water, mix gently

  • Rim the glass with a lime wedge 

  • Fill glass 2/3 full with ice

  • Pour a serving of cocktail mix into each glass

  • Top with a dash of cinnamon

  • Garnish with a spring of mint and lime wedge on the side

  • Toast and enjoy, HONey! 

*Prefer a mocktail instead? Skip the booze and top up with citrus-flavored sparkling water!
