Ready to plan your trip to Morocco? Check out my Marrakech City Guide!

During our group trip to Marrakech, we stayed at the luxurious Riad Zamzam, it was an enchanting and immersive experience. Stepping inside a riad feels like entering a tranquil oasis far from Marrakech's busy streets. If you aren't familiar, riads are traditional Moroccan homes with a central courtyard or garden. Upstairs, a large rooftop with sun chairs was a great place to relax and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding cityscape.

Located in the heart of Marrakech's medina (old town), Riad Zamzam was conveniently within walking distance for exploring the city's vibrant culture and attractions like the crowded souks (markets) and historic landmarks like the Jemaa el-Fnaa square. We could easily retreat into our cozy personal space to escape the city's hustle and bustle.

Staying at the riad was a unique cultural opportunity to experience Moroccan culture and hospitality β€” from traditional mint tea ceremonies to the taijn cooking class. The staff at Riad Zamzam offered warm hospitality with personalized service that helped us feel comfortable and welcome in an unknown place.

Crafted with traditional Moroccan architecture and design, the riad displayed traditional Moroccan decor, including colorful tiles, intricate carved wooden doors, and ornate decorations, providing a sense of authenticity and cultural immersion. I loved the decorative brass lanterns, which added to the authentic Moroccan ambiance every evening as the incense wafted in the warm, even air.

Mesmerizing and peaceful, the courtyard was central to our trip. Every morning, we met here for breakfast, when I often indulged in a bowl of yogurt with honey, oranges, and other fruits. The courtyard also served as a quiet retreat to unwind or a space to chat late into the evening. We enjoyed a traditional cooking class here and shared our homemade Moroccan tajin dinner together.
