En route to Paris

In celebration of my 27th birthday (yesterday!) and long lasting friendships, I'm up bright and early and heading to PARIS for a few days with one of my very best friends who is visiting from Florida.

Who could ask for more!?

You better believe we are going to gorge on macarons, burn off the calories while trekking around the city and then eat some more! We're excited to discover quirky places, listen to gypsy blues and maybe take party in a massive pillow fight too. If the weather cooperates we're hoping for a wine filled picnic in one of the city's lovely parks...or maybe under the Eiffel Tower! This is going to be one action packed trip, as it's Jolie's first visit to Europe and I haven't been since 2007!

A few photos from my last visit to the City of Light...

If you're curious what we're up to, feel free to follow along on instagram (@lilywanderlust),
and I'm sure we'll be doing at least a few of these very French things (ha!)

Do you have a favorite Parisiene activity or spot that we shouldn't miss?

Leave us a suggestion in the comments below or send me a tweet,
I love hearing what other travelers recommend!
Well, adventure calls... Bon voyage!

    1. Rachy!! You were definitely missed throughout the various birthday celebrations but we'll definitely be adding another once you're back in town. We did get together with Emma and that's a hilarious story to tell you over beers when you're back in Amsterdam! xo

  2. Happy Birthday Lily! Have a wonderful time in Paris. I haven't been to Paris in 6 years so I'm afraid I don't have any recommendations but Carin from the blog Paris in Four months lives there and she always has great restaurant reviews and is mad for macarons, check her blog out :)
Can't wait to see your instagrams!

  3. Happy birthday! I wish you a very wonderful time in one of my very favorite cities! Being a major foodie, all my recommendations center around eating (it's a wonder I don't weight 500 pounds!): Candelaria for cocktails in the back and the best tacos, chips and guacamole up front; while you guys have pretty decent burgers in Amsterdam, I hear Le Camion Qui Fume has some of the best; Pierre Hermé for macarons; La Maison du Chocolat for chocolate (don't miss the truffles and the amazing creations in the pastry fridge!); Verjus wine bar for wine and an amazing selection of small plates, which could easily make a meal.

I did a whole post on eating in Paris too, if that helps sway you in any direction: http://americaninwiesbaden.blogspot.de/2012/04/eating-in-paris.html

Safe travels, happy eating and have a great time!

    1. Thanks for the suggestion, we heard a lot of great things about Candelaria and really enjoyed their cactus tacos. As a fellow expat you can definitely understand that good Mexican food is scares here in Europe!

  4. Happy Birthday and have a great time in Paris! I recommend having a picnic by the Eiffel Tower at night as it twinkles.

    1. Thanks Bonnie! Unfortunately, the weather was too chilly and overcast for an Eiffel Tower picnic but we made up for it with a few extra glasses of wine...inside!
