If you've been in Amsterdam's city center this winter, there's no doubt you've spotted at least one huge, colourful light installation. As part of the six week long Amsterdam Light Festival dozens of bright artworks can be seen all over the city... for free!

Luckily, my cycling commute to/from work takes me across the Amstel River,
offering ample opportunities to view some of the brilliant displays along the water.

We've been lucky with the weather this season making evenings a perfect time to stroll the lights...
I've probably wandered them half-a-dozen times already!

It's safe to say this new festival is now one of my favorite wintertime activities,
hopefully it will become an annual occurrence.

Light displays will stay up up until January 20, 2013
so, if you're in or around Amsterdam this time of year be sure to check it out!
If you have seen the displays, what do you think??

I loved the white antler light sculpture in the botanical garden with the reactive color sensors, so cool!

Thanks Paul! Hope everything is going well down in Breda :)
DeleteVery cool. I love when cities put up art installations. It makes living in them so much more dynamic.
ReplyDeleteYes, for sure! I bet Denver has a lot of cool mix of art and nature to display.
